Most of what Somalis read online about money, health, technology or education is written somewhere else, for somewhere else. The advice assumes banks, laws and infrastructure we don't have — or it arrives as rumour on social media, with no one behind it accountable for whether it's true.
Xogmaal is our answer: a place where Somali academics and practitioners publish what they actually know — how to spot a phishing message written in Somali, what a livestock export contract looks like, how remittances really move. Every article passes an editor before it goes live; research papers are peer-reviewed.
We work alongside Somali universities and public institutions, and readers who have something to teach can apply to write. If you do serious work in your field, we want it on the record.

Plain language
A guide about ransomware or bank credit should be understandable the first time you read it. If a sentence needs jargon, we define the term in place.
Reviewed before published
Articles pass an editor before they go live, and research papers are reviewed blind by peers who never see each other's notes. Nothing is published on submission.
Written for Somalia
Examples use Somali banks, Somali phones, Somali classrooms. Advice that only works with infrastructure we don't have doesn't get published.
Kept accurate
Publishing isn't the end. When guidance goes stale — a scam pattern changes, a rule is updated — we revise the piece or say plainly that it's out of date.
